The Nitrox speciality is a speciality diving qualification which covers everything you need to know to safely breathe oxygen-enriched air, also known as Nitrox. Across the diving industry, Nitrox is without a doubt the most popular diving speciality.

You may be asking yourself: Why would I want to use Nitrox, I already know how to and am comfortable with breathing regular air from my cylinder??

A Nitrox air mix, with its higher oxygen concentration (21-40%) and resulting lower nitrogen concentration, results in reduced decompression effects compared to regular air – divers can enjoy longer dives and have shortened surface intervals between dives!

So when would you want to use Nitrox?
Nitrox is most advantageous when: you are doing deep dives, you are doing many consecutive dives (like on a livaboard) or you are looking for an additional safety buffer (less nitrogen is always better).
As for the course, there’s a theory component which will take 2-4 hours and can be done via e-learning, and theres aa optional 1-2 dive practical component with an Instructor. In the course you will learn how to label and analyze a tank, plan a dive using Nitrox, fill out a Nitrox air log, and how to stay safe when using a Nitrox mix.

  • Prerequisites: Open Water (or qualifying certification)
