Introducing the 2022 Committee
What led you to scuba diving? (How did it all start?)
My husband wanted to scuba dive in the Red Sea, so he persuaded me to get certified. Now I dive far more than he does
What is your highest level of scuba qualification and how long have you been diving?
Deep Spec and Nitrox. I’ve been certified over 20 years, but have done most of my diving since 2016.
What do you do with your free time when you’re not underwater?
Teach cartooning, hike, read
What keeps you diving?
The underwater chill-factor – both cold water & tranquility! Also, Cape Town macro life.
What are you most excited about related to OMSAC and diving in the coming year?
So glad we can meet in-person for committee stuff! Also hoping to see a wider variety of shore dive sites & improve my navigation.Share a fond memory related to being a member of OMSAC
OMSAC is my first experience of diving with lots of excellent, passionate divers who also happen to be women. I love that.
Favourite Cape dive site and why?
Castle Rock. On a good day, it’s the best of everything; a fairyland lagoon, vibrant colour, kelp forests, fish shoals, swim-throughs
If you could dive anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Indonesia
What, in your mind, makes a good dive buddy?
Someone chilled, who never touches or chases a sea creature
Be honest What kind of dive buddy are you?
An air-sipping enthusiast with an adventurous streak
What is your best tip/trick for new divers?
Work on your buoyancy. Keep your hands on your belly and use your lungs only
